Patient Philanthropy Ambassador
The Patient Philanthropy Ambassador will be one partner among many in facilitating the development of long-term supporting relationships between The Children’s Hospital and patient families. As one of the more visible “faces of the Foundation” within the Hospital, this individual will foster greater understanding among patients and caregivers regarding the role of philanthropy in sustaining and enhancing the Hospital. The ideal candidate will:
- Be engaging, mature and discreet
- Be an articulate communicator and an effective collaborator
- Comprehend the ambassadorial and representative nature of this role, facilitating successes from the background rather than the spotlight
- Be comfortable handling challenging or emotional situations, and engaging with a wide range of individuals and communities
- Possess strong writing and public speaking skills
- Be able to accurately and persuasively identify and articulate the themes and issues associated with a major academic pediatric hospital and its fundraising enterprise
- Be committed to the four core missions of The Children’s Hospital (clinical care, advocacy, research, education).
This position will serve as a conduit to the fundraising program but does not have direct fundraising responsibilities.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ten+ years relevant work experience, ideally in healthcare-related fundraising.
- Knowledge of pediatric hospital culture.
- Work experience must demonstrate meaningful relationship-building.
- Competence regarding legal and ethical issues related to patient data and HIPPA.
- A highly disciplined disposition with proven ability to accomplish goals, meet real deadlines and create real outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong data management and interpretation skills.
- Experience working in a hospital environment with clinicians, staff and administration.
