Von McLaughlin was just six months old when he was shaken by his nanny to a point where his brain bled and swelled. Von spent a week at The Children’s Hospital, but two years later, Von was miraculously healed and now appears to be a healthy boy. 

Child abuse is the No. 1 killer of children and Shaken Baby Syndrome is the most common cause of death from child abuse.  

Through support from Kohl’s Cares for Kids, The Children’s Hospital has mounted a major program to educate the public about the horrifying dangers and consequences of Shaken Baby Syndrome and ways to help prevent it. With help from Kohl’s Department Stores, the pain and heartache that the McLaughlins endured may one day be something other families will never have to experience.
