Meet Peyton
Peyton was 5 years old when her mother took her to the doctor complaining of headaches and nausea. Peyton was physically weak and wobbly during her exam; her motor skills were obviously being affected by something. Her pediatrician recommended a CT scan at The Children’s Hospital.
Southwest Airlines Adds Children’s to Grant Recipients
The Children’s Hospital is proud to be a part of the 2010 Southwest Airlines Medical Transportation Grant Program. Children's has received a donation of 100 round-trip tickets, valued at $40,000, for patients, families and caregivers to use while traveling for treatment.
Patient's Chore Money Donation Reflects Tremendous Progress
The Children’s Hospital’s Neuropsychiatric Special Care (NSC) program received a surprise donation in early January from a teen with Asperger’s, a neurobiological disorder that is part of a group of conditions called autism spectrum disorders.
Nationwide Shortage of Pediatric Specialists
On January 13, the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) released the results of its 2009 survey on the supply of pediatric specialists. The results showed that children’s hospitals across the country are experiencing shortages that affect children’s care, especially in neurology, developmental behavior, gastroenterology, general surgery, and pulmonology.
Patient Returns to Hockey After Cancer Treatment
Almost two years ago, Christian Moreno was diagnosed with liver cancer when he was just 5 years old. After receiving the traumatic news, Christian and his family immediately went to The Children's Hospital, where Christian underwent chemotherapy, followed by a liver transplant. Shortly after surgery, Christian suffered complications and required a second liver transplant.
