Patients like Rose Vu from Lakewood have not lost their perspective on life’s promises. Diagnosed with leukemia at age 3, Rose has been in her second remission for two and a half years, and everyone who knows her hopes that her cancer will never return. Upbeat, with a sense of humor that is unmatched in most 9-year-olds, Rose has endeared herself to Children’s dedicated staff, particularly staff at Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD).   

Did you know that Children’s CCBD has one of the best pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant programs in the country? Here are just a few of the many reasons the CCBD is notable:

• Children’s CCBD is the only cancer center in the Rocky Mountain region dedicated to providing care for patients from birth to age 25. 
• The CCBD provides treatment to more than 1,500 patients each year. 
• The CCBD is on the forefront of research and was the first in the world to enroll a pediatric patient with a rare type of leukemia in a clinical drug trial that administered a drug formerly used only in adults.
  
  

Rose has benefited directly from CCBD’s cutting-edge research and world-class care. She is a vibrant young girl who enjoys reading, ballet and playing with her older brother. When she grows up, Rose wants to be a doctor at The Children’s Hospital. She is living proof that Children’s, with its focus on specialized care for children and teens, can make dreams come true.
